This is a place where friends and family of Gus can come to check out how he is doing and see how he is growing.

Survived the Rapture!
It has been raining here all week. As soon as the sun comes up, it rains again. Saturday I tried to take Gus for a bike ride when it cleared up, but we got poured on!! We ended up at the library where Gus spent an hour reading and playing in the kid's computer.

Mother's Day 2011
Question: How long will a little boy throw rocks in a creek.
Answer: Until you drag him away screaming and kicking.
We went up to the mountains for Mother's Day this year. It was a nice time hiking and throwing rocks into the creek. I packed up a lunch and made a day of it. And for Mother's Day, I got a nice Thermos mug for my new onset in life coffee addiction. It is 20 oz and it won't spill when I knock it over. And best of all, it is supposed to be shatter proof, essentially unbreakable. Those people at Thermos haven't met me yet! I break everything.
I had a wonderful day and I couldn't be more proud of having Gus has my son.
Here is a video of "the boy" throwing rocks into the creek.I really like how he points his fingers to where the rocks should go.

Remembering
LouAda Shelton passed away April 27th, 2011. While Gus only got to meet his Grandmommy a handful of times and he won't remember any of them, I'll have pictures and stories to give him for a lifetime.

Easter 2011
This year, Gus got to go on a real live Easter Egg Hunt! This was honestly the first year he could walk, so it is really the first year it could happen anyway. We went on Saturday to this giant local church that did a whole "carnival" type Easter theme. . . all for Jesus. There was face painting, balloon animals, a little train, a petting zoo, a jumpy house and slide, and lots of door prizes including giving away Razors and bicycles. This was a wonderful gesture by the local church and we had a great time. The only downside was that it was snowing and then pouring down rain for most of the event.
Gus picked up quite a few eggs, and all of them contained chocolate! Then, Gus won a gift basket as a door prize which contained more chocolate! The little piggy ate tons of it.

Future Tony Hawk
Whenever we go to my neighbor's house for play dates, Gus has recently bee lined for the skateboard. I'm not really sure what is so cool about standing on a stationary board, but he is very proud. My neighbor, Mrs. Heidi, always makes her boys wear helmets when using their bikes, skooters, or skateboards (as she should!) And Gus has caught on. First safety, then skateboard!

Hot Rod
One of Gus' favorite books is "100 First Machines". He pretty much knows the name of each one. Gus still is not talking (a whole different blog post). But if you open the book and say "Gus. Which one is the convertible?" or "Gus. Which one is the combine harvester?", he will point to it. Each of the 100 machines! He is just fascinated with it. Anyway, there is a hot rod in this book. And when Gus saw a hot rod at the pool parking lot, he would not leave it alone! He was obsessed. Here he stands proudly in front of his find.
